500 for a 200 is not that bad, but I was never a fan of the 200 since no reverse and no front suspension.
I preferred the big reds, they where a 250 and they had front suspension and had reverse.
I used my big red to plow my yard.

Early Reds were 200s with front shocks. “ATC 200ES” Your 250 Red was probably similar to the 250 SX with shaft drive and rear suspension.
I was never a fan of the “Hardtails” but I’m warming up to them. Buy for $500, sell for $800.
